Why These Methods Work

#1 - Based on adult learning principles.

I’m a geek about this, I admit. Since earning my master’s degree in Adult Learning, I’ve been committed to helping adults learn in a way that maximizes understanding and retention. For instance, each of my trainings offer specific suggestions for dealing with real-life challenges. Participants are given the opportunity to apply what they’ve learned through exercises and problem-solving. By connecting the content to their own experiences, they are better able to internalize the information.

#2 - Grounded in brain science.

I love brain scientists! Especially ones who show us how to help information stick in people’s brains*. Why give a presentation that no one remembers? My trainings model and teach learners how to significantly increase their audience’s understanding of the material and how to drive this information deeper into people’s long-term memory banks.

Fun Fact: Most learners report that they immediately change their behavior after they attend one of my trainings.

#3 - Participants learn by example.

From beginning to end, I model everything I teach. In fact, I invite students to pay attention to how I do what I do. One of my highest priorities is to demonstrate effective slide design. Learners see convincing evidence that photographs, simple charts, and clear messages are a superior alternative to mind-numbing slides packed with bullet points! I also keep participants engaged through polling, whiteboards, exercises, break-out rooms, and chat questions.
